Walker wins, 'Dude' takes points lead in Sedalia.

SEDALIA, MO (May 10) - It was only a matter of time before Tyler Walker returned to victory lane following a Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series main event.

The World of Outlaws Gumout Series points leader led three Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series "A" Features and recorded three top-five finishes in March and, only a week ago earlier, swept the Gumout event at LaSalle Speedway.

Walker, who last won a Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series "A" Feature at Tri-City Speedway on May 15, 1999, passed Danny Lasoski early in the 18th lap on his way to a $10,000 victory Friday at State Fair Motor Speedway. Finishing second pushed "The Dude" back into first place in the point standings for the third time this season.

"Finally!" Walker yelled to the capacity crowd after turning his patented victory somersault on the front straightaway. "(Crew chief) Ricky (Warner) gave me a great car tonight, and I can't say enough about my car owners, Wallace and Coeta (Ledford). I'm so excited I don't really know what else to say."

Wallace Ledford was equally excited, saying, "We're awful proud of Tyler. He's one of the best drivers in the United States."

Walker, the seventh-fastest qualifier in the 30-car field, followed fellow Gumout competitor Shane Stewart across the finish line in the First Heat Race and earned the right to start the "A" Feature outside the second row by finishing behind Danny Wood in the Second O'Reilly Auto Parts Dash.

Wood and the #6 Casey's General Stores Maxim turned sideways in turn four as the green flag fell in the main event. Steve Kinser, who entered the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series' 17th event of the year leading Lasoski by 18 points in the standings, collided with Wood and flipped into the outside wall on the front straightaway. While Kinser was forced to watch the 25-lap race from the pit area, Wood restarted on the front row with a damaged right side panel on his top wing.

Craig Dollansky, who won the First O'Reilly Auto Parts Dash, burst into the lead from the pole as the green flag replaced the red. Lasoski and Walker passed Wood for second and third place during the opening lap. Paul McMahan raced past Walker in the low groove between turns one and two the next time around.

Wayne Johnson brought out the first caution flag early lap four, spinning in the first corner.

Stewart, who started outside the fifth row, rode the rim around P.J. Chesson in turn three to take over fifth place two laps later. Walker regained third place with an inside move past McMahan between the first and second corners early in the ninth lap.

Dollansky, who won the inaugural World of Outlaws Gumout Series championship in 2000, was five car-lengths ahead of Lasoski when he entered lapped traffic three laps later. "The Dude," a two-time winner at State Fair Motor Speedway, caught Dollansky within a lap, however. They raced wheel-to-wheel down the back straightaway before Lasoski surged ahead deep in turn three.

Walker raced around Dollansky high between the first and second corners early in the 14th lap. Mechanical problems forced Wood to stop in turn one three laps later.

Walker took advantage of the restart, racing around Lasoski in the second corner to take the lead.

"Everybody knows I like to run the top side of the speedway, but I found some rubber down low in three and four," Walker said. "I didn't want Danny to see me down there, because I knew if he did he'd move down and take the lane away. He did that, so I just drove it in there on the top in one and two and got around him."

Stewart continued his run toward the front late in lap 19, passing Brad Furr and McMahan in the high groove between turns three and four to take over fourth place.

Wood and Randy Hannagan collided and flipped into Johnson in the third corner with 1 1/3 laps remaining, setting up a two-lap dash to the checkered flag.

Dollansky challenged "The Dude" for second place as the green flag replaced the red, but was unable to surge ahead between turns three and four. Walker controlled the restart and drove C&W Motorsports' #35 Eagle under the checkered flag with eight car-lengths to spare.

Stewart finished in fourth place, ahead of McMahan, Furr, Donny Schatz, Chesson, 17th-starting Tim Shaffer and Joey Saldana.

Furr, who started outside the ninth row, drove his #2 Sanmina/SCI Eagle past 12 cars to finish sixth.
