The World of Outlaws Returns to "The Grove"

(Sept. 27, 2004) The World of Outlaws will return to Williams Grove Speedway's semi-banked 1/2-mile clay oval in Mechanicsburg, PA for the Williams Grove National Open October 1- 2nd. The anticipation is high as the World of Outlaws makes their final season stop in Pennsylvania to once again battle the "Pennsylvania Posse" during this two-day event.

This is the Outlaws' third trip to the Grove this season and out of the four prior races, the Outlaws have only beaten the Posse once. Danny "The Dude" Lasoski earned his career first World of Outlaws Williams Grove feature win on the final night of the Summer Nationals race in July. Lasoski looks to continue his success at the track and use it to his advantage as tries to make up the point difference that separates him from series points leader Steve Kinser.

"We always enjoy in when the World of Outlaws come to town, the rivalry between the Posse and the Outlaws is long standing, offering race fans an unmatched experience," remarked race promoter Bob Jones.

Williams Grove Speedway's heritage runs deep as the track has been in continuous operation since 1939 and has played host to numerous major events along with some of the top names in motor sports. Located deep in the hart of Pennsylvania racing country, the track offers up local talent that will defiantly give the Mean 15 a run for their money.

The weekend will kick off Friday night with a full night of racing as the nation's best drivers take to the track in the $5,000 to-win feature event. The top four finishers from Friday night's feature will then be locked into the A feature on Saturday. With over $92,000 in purse money on the line Saturday, the racing promises to be intense as drivers fight to make it into the top four.

The excitement of the weekend will only build as drivers return on Saturday for the weekend's big race. Saturday night will feature qualifying, heat races, and a dash to determine the top eight starting positions in the nights A main event. With the race paying $900 to start, drivers will pull out all of the stops as the try and enter the night's Cleveland Brother's Caterpillar 40-lap feature event. It will be non-stop racing action as the Outlaws and the Posse go head to head in a heated battle for the weekend's top prize, the $30,000-to-win feature pay out.

General admission gates for the Williams Grove National Open will open at 5:30 p.m., with time trials scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m. each night. Ticket information can be found on Williams Grove Speedway's website at www.williamsgrove.com, or by calling the track at (717) 697-5000.
