Jordan to compete at Goodwood in Audi Rallycross car

British driver Andrew Jordan has been announced as the wildcard and reserve driver for Mattias Ekstrom’s EKS World Rallycross Championship team, and will make his first appearance for the World RX points leading squad at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK next week.

Jordan will drive one of the teams Audi S1 Supercars at the event, in which Ekstrom has won three rounds of World RX so far this season and leads both the drivers’ and teams’ standings.

“Rallycross Supercars are so impressive to drive, the level of cars and teams has stepped up massively over the last couple of years and I'm very lucky to get to drive one at Goodwood,” said Jordan.

"I'm really excited to be running the Audi S1 EKS RX quattro up the hill. It's such a fantastic event to be part of, where fans get up close with a variety of different cars like nowhere else in the world.

"I think the rallycross car will be one of – if not – the most exciting car to watch. It will be nice to drive it with no pressure and to just enjoy putting on a show.”

Double DTM champion Ekstrom will miss the event as he will be taking part in the Norisring round of the German Touring Car series.

“For me Goodwood is one of or maybe even the best motorsport events in Europe. Every year I read about it and I would like to go there myself,” Ekstrom told Motorsport.com.

“Now I’m a team owner, we have a chance to go there together with Andrew and he can represent us, it’s a great honour and I really look forward to seeing our car driving there. I’m sure there will be pictures from Goodwood that we’ll keep well in our mind for the future.”

Jordan will drive the squad’s test car at the hill climb event. “The two race cars are obviously busy, so Andrew will use the test car,” said Ekstrom.

“Andrew has tested with us already this year so he knows the car and it will take no magic for him to just jump in it.

"I think people will be quite surprised with how it looks, I’m really proud of how it looks and this is the first time we can show it to a broader mass in the UK.”

Jordan won the British Rallycross Championship Supercar title in 2007 before switching to the British Touring Car Championship, which he won in 2013.

In 2014, Jordan returned to rallycross in a one-off appearance for the OlsbergsMSE team at Lydden Hill and finished on the podium.

Last year, he drove a Peugeot 208 for Team Peugeot-Hansen at Lydden Hill and the EKS Audi in Italy.
