Larsson to continue in World Rallycross in 2016

The Swedish driver won the European Rallycross Championship in 2014, his maiden year in Supercar, and graduated to the World Championship last season.

Larsson won the final round of the championship in Argentina after a battle with Timmy Hansen and Mattias Ekstrom. He also finished on the podium in Norway.

“We’ve updated the car with some new developments that we think will help us on the track,” said Larsson, who finished eighth overall in World RX last season.

“I also learned a lot about the circuits last year. Some were new for me so this year I’m going back to all the tracks I've driven at least once before, which will definitely help.”

Larsson’s team is run by his father Lars, who won back-to-back European Championships driving a Skoda Fabia in 2006-07, and experienced rallycross competitor and engineer Michael Jernberg.

“Consistency is very important: of course everybody wants to win every race, but I’ve learned that good tactics is key,” continued Robin.

“Last year I wanted to win as much as I could in the beginning, and it didn't work out for me. In the second half of the season I started to drive a lot more smartly and it really worked.

"I’m not here to make any friends - only to get good results for my future in the sport," he added.

The Swede believes the competition in World RX will be tougher than ever this year, but he is motivated to continue his form from the end of 2015 into the opening round of this season at Montalegre, Portugal, next month.

“All the teams are stepping up this year - the sport is getting bigger so it's going to be really tough. We're a small team compared to some of the bigger guys.

"So, this year I really need to be on my toes for every single race. I’m really motivated to kick of the season in Portugal.”
