Trois-Rivières, April 22nd 2014 | After shining in CART, IndyCar and NASCAR, Québécois driver Patrick Carpentier will take part in his first FIA World Championship event as driver of the Marley’s Mellow Mood VW Polo Supercar for top team Marklund Motorsport at RX Canada which will be part of Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières next August 7th and 8th.

Carpentier, a five-time winner in the CART Series and two-time winner at the GP3R, should have no problem dealing with the asphalt part of the GP3R new rallycross layout. What is less known is that as a lifelong motocross rider and, more recently, as a side-by-side vehicle occasional racer, the veteran might find his bearing on the dirt part of the track easier than some might expect.

I have been working on a deal for some time and it finally just materialized,” said an ecstatic Carpentier who will also take on colour commentator duties for the World RX broadcasts on RDS.

Jan Marklund, principal of Marklund Motorsport, is very keen on having his Marley’s Mellow Mood VW Polo Supercar raced by a driver with Carpentier’s pace, caliber and reputation.

Most of all we want to enjoy the ride and this will be a great event this summer. This is a new kind of racing that fans will embrace," added Carpentier.
