Results to special stage 8
1 McRae/Ringer 13 secs lead =2 Kankkunen/Grist =2 Bourne/Sircombe 4 Eriksson/Parmander 5 Burns/Reid 6 Bates/Taylor 7 Ordynski/Stacey 8 Dunkerton/Gocentas
McRae has set a new record on the Langley Park Special Stage of 1m37secs
McRae was hindered out in the forest by a sixth gear problem, requiring him to hold it in place which cost him some valuable time.
In the ARC title clash, frontrunner in the series Michael Guest crashed out on SS 4 after trying to catch up lost time by untidy driving in the previous SS. This now leaves Neal Bates in an excellent position to seal up the title here, with Ed Ordynski also trying to take the title even tho he is in a Group N car. Neal wants to impress the world with his driving style but must drive conservative to protect the vehicle.
Brett Middleton in the MRT Daihatsu Charade Gti crashed out only 200 metres from the start on the 1st SS, the Langley Park Superstage in front of a crowd of 18-20 000 by hotting a tree on the first stage and totalling the car.
