XEVI PONS/CARLOS DEL BARRIO NOMINATED IN AUSTRALIA

Sebastien Loeb had to renounce to the long journey to Australia. To insure a new interim at the wheel of the number 1 Xsara, the Kronos Total Citroen WRT has decided to nominate the Spanish team-mates Xevi Pons and Carlos Del Barrio.

Continuing his recovery after the operation on his right arm fracture after his mountain bike accident, Sebastien Loeb who has started his rehabilitation programme, has recorded very encouraging progress on a daily basis. The Kronos Citroen driver should undergo the classical post trauma x-ray checks next week. The possibility for two times world rally champion to the FIA 2006 Australian round had to be given up considering the reconnaissance will start on Tuesday October 24th.

Marc Van Dalen Kronos' team principal and Guy Frequelin Citroen Sport's director have decided to entrust the young Catalan driver Xevi Pons (26 years old), partnered as usual to Carlos Del Barrio, to drive the number one Xsara. Xevi and Carlos have already been `nominated' to score points for the Manufacturers championship on the first eight rounds of the season.

In Australia, the number 2 Xsara will also be nominated. As it is the case since `Rallye Deutschland', it will be driven by young reigning Junior World champion Dani Sordo (23 years old) and his usual co-driver Marc Marti.
