Headlines Weather - dry and windy Conditions - roads were still slippery in the morning but were drying out during the day

- "Carlos Sainz became the most successful rally driver in the history of the World Championship when he and co-driver Luis Moya took their Toyota Castrol Team Corolla WRC to victory in the Rally of New Zealand today. It was Sainz’s 22nd WRC win, and moved him to the top of the Drivers’ series." (TTE) - Auriol lost time on SS19 when the car stalled and would not start - Burns rolled on the first stage of the day losing 15 minutes, but still claim fastest stage time on the final four stages. - McRae punctured on SS20 and was not carrying a spare. The puncture sealant did not expand and he drove 30km with the flat. - 'Stumpy' Holmes crashed his Impreza into a river on SS23 and handed the Group N win to Australian Michael Guest.

Stage 19 Te Koraha 1 47,43 km Notes: - Auriol: "When I came into the braking, the engine stalled. It cut out and it wouldn't re-start. It was sitting in the mud. We lost 25 seconds." - Sainz: "It's OK. I think conditions will remain more or less the same now - damp and slippery." - McRae: (has changed suspension) "It feels a bit better. It gives you more confidence in the fast stuff. It's livened up a bit. We'll see how it goes." - Burns: (Rolled) "First of all I think I chose the wrong tyres, too hard a compound. I cut a corner a little bit too much inside and there were roadworks and things and it rolled. There were no people, so we had to run and get help. We've lost 14-15 minutes, so I don't think we can even get into the points." - Makinen: "It was completely wrong tyre choice, no feeling at all, just no grip."
