Headlines - highlight of the day belonged to Carlos Sainz who secured second place from Juha Kankkunen. At the start of Leg 3, Sainz was 8 seconds behind Kankkunen and after chipping away a few seconds on each stage, he was 2 seconds in front coming into the start of the final stage. Kankkunen was fastest but failed to catch up the 2 second gap and finished an amazing 0.7 seconds behind Sainz. - Colin McRae also had a point to prove and won five of the days six stages. McRae has been the fastest driver all rally...if only for that slight indicident in Leg 2 where he hit a rock and damaged the rear suspension! - Alistar McRae fails to start Leg 3 due to a starter motor problem (he had a similar problem yesterday)

He had problems with the stater again and could not go out today.

"There are many people in this stage" - Sainz: He made a negative signal. He looked as if resigned to his position - Burns: The front spoiler has a bump. He is happy with his time. "This is a very nice special and the ground is in good condition" - Colin McRae: "A lot of people close to the road" The spoiler is hanging loose. The rear bumper is tied to the car. - Liatti: He hit the mountain in the last meters of the stage. The front left winker is broken as well as the rear bumper. - Rosenberger: "The people are too close to the road"

Stage 20 Amboy-S.R. Calamunchita 21.33 km Start Time: 11:25hrs Notes: - Makinen: I'm very happy with my result in SS20, I hope I can continue the same way. I prefer the slow stages, I'm happier with them. - Kankkunen: The difference between Makinen and me is too big. I'll see what happens in the next three SS. - Sainz: In SS20 he landed dangerously in two wheels. Fortunately there was no major consequence. He is trying to keep his present position so as to lead the championship. - Burns: The last stage was too fast. "I enjoyed it better than the slower ones. I'm trying to catch Sainz". - Colin McRae: He had a puncture at the end of SS20 but the tyre stayed in the rim so they could get to the finish without loosing much time.
