OMV BIXXOL Rally Teams gathered experience
For both OMV BIXXOL Rally Teams the "Rally Argentina" was under the sign of gathering experience. Following the sensational beginning on the two super stages on Thursday and Friday, Saturday proved to be less perfect. The final leg on Sunday saw the OMV BIXXOL Rally Team CZ with Stepan Vojtech and Michal Ernst move up from 18th to twelfth place in the P-WRC. Claudiu David and Mihaela Beldie slipped off the road on SS 19 and finished their first WRC-rally in 22nd place in group N.
Shock absorbers cost points
Just like at the beginning of March Stepan Vojtech was about to score points in Argentina as well. But the problems with the shock absorbers (loss of oil) crushed all hopes. The Czech OMV driver lost too much time on Saturday to catch up on Sunday. Vojtech: "It was extremely difficult to drive. But we nevertheless saw that we can score points. That is very positive. Now it is important to realise the gathered experiences at the next rallies. We are getting along with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX better and better."
Slip with serious consequences
Claudiu David and Mihaela Beldie have crossed the finish line at their WRC- premiere. The Romanian OMV BIXXOL Rally Team had nevertheless hoped for a better result than 22nd place in group N. But the OMV duo threw away this opportunity on special stage 19. David slipped off the road and lost over 26 minutes. David: "Actually, it wasn't that bad and the car wasn't damaged, either. But unfortunately there were no spectators on the spot and it was almost impossible to get back on the road by ourselves. It was nevertheless a lot of fun and we are looking forward to our next assignments."
