Martin Prokop will fight for the podium in the Rally

Super 2000 World Championship (S-WRC) continues with its sixth round, the Rally Finland, this weekend. Martin Prokop and Jan Tomanek under the guise of Czech Ford National Team are ready to fight for another good score in their Ford Fiesta S2000.

Martin Prokop likes Rally Finland with its fast tracks and flying jumps a lot, and it is obvious why. He has completed the Rally Finland for five times, and in the last two years he reigned in the J-WRC category. In the 2009 season, he actually celebrated the junior world championship title there.

Well, in the 2010 season, Martin Prokop wants to follow his previous achievements in the S-WRC category. Before the event he is holding fourth position in the S-WRC rankings, losing two points to the third Per-Gunnar Andersson.

Martin Prokop co-driven by Jan Tomanek completed his last S-WRC round within the Rally New Zealand. However, since then they haven't been idle. They completed a few tests and rallies as a preparation for the WRC rounds. Two weeks ago they participated in the Rally Estonia, which prepared them for the Rally Finland.

Martin Prokop: "Rally Finland is a very fast event and definitely one of the best rallies in the championship. There was a fantastic atmosphere last year too and I know that this year will be just the same. The stages require a lot of concentration and they are very technical in parts with many blind crests and fast jumps. I was happy with my overall result in 2009 but I will be pushing to try and do better this year."

Neste Oil Rally Finland will commemorate its 60th anniversary in 2010 with a brand new city-based Super Special stage in Jyvaskyla and a revised itinerary that ends on Saturday night, rather than the more usual Sunday. The rally is a fast gravel affair, with high- speed runs along tree-lined tracks peppered with fast, flying `yumps' that demand absolute, balls-out commitment.

The Rally Finland starts on Thursday 29th July at 6:45 pm. For Friday and Saturday is prepared 18 special stages. The finish is planned on Saturday 31st July at 6 pm.
