Rally Finland: Kome Sport preview

Angelo and Barbara Medeghini are taking part in Rally Finland, 10th round of the 2005 FIA World Rally Championship, with a new Subaru Imjpreza Spec.C. Kome Sport team entered this year edition of the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship with a Mitsubishi and now changed to a Subaru. Therefore even if this race doesn't belong to the PCWRC they decided to participate in order to give the drivers the possibility to practice with the new car before the next round of the PCWRC in Great Britain in mid September. The car has been prepared by Prodrive and will be assisted during the championship by Mauro Nocentini.
Angelo and Barbara Medeghini last entered this race in 1996 and they placed 10th overall.
"I'm glad to be back in Finland again." Said Angelo Medeghini "It's a race I like even if it's technically difficult and requires a very precise driving. This race will help us find the right feeling with the car, make the necessary adjustments and be ready for the next round of the Production Car World Rally Championship"
Rally Finland, last year voted as best race of the WRC, will have a total length of 1506,78 km, 21 Special Stages (355.59 km) on gravel. The longest stage of the rally is SS 16 of 40.96 km, . The stages are wide and fast with several jumps and will be run through forests and along beautiful lakes.
This morning the entrants did the Shakedown, a stage of 3.76 km in the outskirts of Jyväskylä.
Immediately after the start there was the classic Super Special Stage of Killeri (2.06 km) that opened the race.
Angelo and Barbara Medeghini obtained the 14th time of Group N.
The real action is going to start tomorrow. After the start at 07.30 am the crews will run 7 SS in the forests around Jyväskylä, then crews will round off the leg with the Killeri SS.
The first leg will have a total of 144,27 competitive kilometres and 9 SS, the longest stage of the day is Vellipohja 33.93 km to be repeated twice.
