OMV Kronos Citroen WRT is back in tune
The OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team has rediscovered the necessary self assurance to fight for top places in the FIA World Rally Championship once again. At the "Neste Oil Rally Finland" the Austrian OMV duo Manfred Stohl and Ilka Minor lies in excellent eighth overall place after seven special stages. But the fact that one can compete with the top times is even more important.
Back in tune
Manfred Stohl has rediscovered his good humour. Right at the beginning of the day the 35-year-old OMV driver proved his speed. He took fifth place after three special stages. Then a little slip happened on SS 4. Stohl: "At a right switchback, probably the slowest spot of the whole rally, we slipped into a ditch with the right back tyre. It took us about 25 seconds to get back onto the road." But this mishap couldn't darken the mood of the OMV duo. Soon they were back within scoring ranks and currently lie in eighth overall place after seven special stages. Stohl: "We are back in tune. Currently I'm not watching the result so much. It is the performance that counts. And that fits."
More potential on the long special stages
But for three exceptions comparatively short special stages (between 2,06 and 13,72 kilometres) had been scheduled for Friday which makes it hard to catch up on lost time. That, however, could swiftly change on Saturday. Eight special stages with a length between 13,46 and 33,01 kilometres are on the timetable. "There you can win from ten to 15 seconds on one SS alone. But obviously just as well lose them", as the OMV driver adds.
