Gigi Galli in a Citroen Xsara WRC of Aimont Racing Team 6th overall at Rally Norway

Gigi Galli and Giovanni Bernacchini in a Citroen Xsara WRC of Aimont Racing Team prepared by PH Sport closetd the first leg of the Norwegian rally 6th overall, keeping the pace of the leaders Hirvonen (Ford), Gronholm (Ford) and Loeb (Citroen).

After yesterday's evening Ceremonial start the action starter early this morning with one of the longest stages of the event, SS Loten, 30,03 km long. Towards the end of the stage visibility wasn't good due to a light rain.

Today's leg had 8 special stages in the area south east of Hamar.

Gigi Galli together with his co-driver Giovanni Bernacchini run the first two special stages without pushing too much. On the second pass on stage Loten they obtained the third best stage time and in the following stage, Grue 14,37 km a fast and smooth stage inside a forest, they posted the second best time of the stage, just 0.9s behind World Rally Champion, Sebastien Loeb.

After a 15 minutes service park near Kirkenaer, drivers had to tackle four stages in a row inside the Kondvinger forest.

In special stage 6 Galli suffered a spin losing time and dropping from 4th to 6th position overall. In the remaining two stages before the overnight-halt in Hamar Galli drove steadily maintaining his position.

"Everything's fine" said Gigi Galli at the end of the leg "We are satisfied with today's stage times. In the last two stages I lost concentration. We'll try to keep a good pace tomorrow as well".

"It's been a good day" said Pierfrancesco Zanchi Team Manager of Aimont Racing Team " Gigi obtained very good times today and has been always high in the overall standings. The spin he suffered in SS6 made him lose time, but he had a steady drive and we are satisfied with the Citroen Xsara"

The second leg will start tomorrow at 06.50 and has six special stages for a total of 115,79 timed kilometers. Among them the longest test of the event, special stage Elverum, 44,28 km long, that will be repeated on Sunday as last stage of Rally Norway. Arrival in Hamar will be at 16.15.
