Gigi Galli in a Citroen Xsara WRC of Aimont Racing Team, 7th overall at rally Norway

Gigi Galli and Giovanni Bernacchini in a Citroen Xsara of Aimont Racing Team prepared by PH Sport are 7th in the leaderboard after leg 2 of Rally Norway. Mikko Hirvonen (Ford) is still leading the race, followed by team mate Marcus Gronholm and by the Subaru driver Petter Solberg.

Sebasien Loeb, third at the end of yesterday's leg dropped to 18th place because he got stuck in the snow on SS 12.

Today's leg was tough for all the crews, both for the route and for the weather, snow and wind followed the drivers throughout the whole race. During the night a heavy snowfall made the route treacherous.

The first stage of the day was Elverum, 44,28 km long, the longest of the Norwegian rally and one of the longest in the entire championship. Gigi Galli drove steadily, posting the 7th best time in the stage

The second speed test was very close to the previous one but quite different and fast. SS 11 Mountain, 24,36 km long was fast as well and flanked by high snow banks. While the crews were running the snow was falling, snow together with a strong wind made the route slippery and visibility very poor.

Lots of spectators lined SS 12 Lillehammer, 5.98 km long, that ended close to the ski resort used during the Winter Olympic Games in 1994. Approximately 100 meters before the end Gigi anticipated too much a hairpin and got stuck in the snow losing time in getting out. Same thing happened to Sebastien Loeb, who got stuck mid stage and lost 8 minutes.

The last special stage of the day, Hamar 1,15 km long, went through a park in town, was flanked by trees and had two tight hairpins towards the end..

Gigi Galli decided not to push and risk too much and tried to keep his position in the leaderboard.

"A very tough leg" said Gigi at the final service park in Hamar "Now I'm getting used to the Citroen Xsara and this morning we started well, but the route was demanding and the weather really bad! Even the smallest mistake could cause problems and that's what happened on the Lillehammer stage. Now we will try to keep our position and finish the race".

Tomorrow the third and last leg of the race will start at 06.50. Four special stages, a total of 97,10 timed kilometers. The last special stage will be a second pass on the long Elverum speed test (44,28 km).

Rally Norway will finish tomorrow afternoon at 15.00 hrs.
