Franz Wittmann/Klaus Wicha improved day by day and kilometre by kilometre
The second WRC assignment in the career of Franz Wittmann and Klaus Wicha (Peugeot 207 S2000) brought on a very pleasing result. The Interwetten Racing duo finished the ADAC Rally Germany in very good 17th overall place. This would mean sixth place in an unofficial S2000 ranking. The more remarkable since the immediate opponents all competed on works material.
Wittmann: "To finish within the top 20 at a WRC rally isn't a bad achievment. We can justly be proud of this. Of course, one always wants more but to us it was paramount to finish this rally in order to gather as many kilometres as possible."
Especially remarkable was the improvement of Franz Wittmann. The Lower Austrian who resides in Wels got better day by day. Not only concerning the result but also the times. Thus, during the rally, he managed to narrow down the gap on the works-S2000 top drivers from one second to 0,6 seconds per kilometre.
"That boosts our self-confidence and shows that we are progressing. After all, we are still S2000-fledglings. If one can keep up with someone like Xavier Pons, who has been competing in the WRC for years, one must be sailing on the right course", explains the Interwetten- Racing driver.
