Unofficial Final Results

Tommi Makinen has won the 1999 International Rally of Sweden.

Sainz and Auriol were both the hard chargers today - Sainz trying to catch Makinen and Auriol after Radstrom. "I feel safe with my 30 seconds." said Makinen and indeed he was with Sainz only able to catch up 12 seconds although Makinen was taking it easy. Auriol also made up over 10 seconds on Radstrom but it wasn't enough. "I can not go any faster." said Radstom "So many risks and only a few seconds to Radström." said Auriol

Burns finished a credible 5th and was happy to be in front of Kankkunen but was 5 minutes behind Auriol. It did mean there were 4 manufacturers in the top 5 finishers. Ford with their more 'conventional' water pump now also get their first podium finish. Only change from yesterday in the top 10 was Petta Solberg who spun on SS15 and allowed Bruno Thiry to move up to 10th. Further success for Mitsubishi as Puhakka wins Group N. Walfridsson and Passonen completed the Grp N Mitusbishi trio.

And disaster for Kenneth Eriksson in the Hyundai Coupe - on the last stage he had engine failure while leading Formula 2. Per Svan won in a Opel Astra Kit Car.
