8 LPM Racing
Driver: Janne Tuohino (FIN)
Co driver: Jukka Aho (FIN)
Vehicle: X8 FMC (Ford Focus WRC01)
Janne Tuohino makes his 2003 WRC debut in Sweden - the talented young Finn has five WRC events planned for this season and will also compete in the Finnish Championship. Last weekend Janne won the Arctic Lapland Rally after an amazing battle with Peugeot's Juuso Pykalisto and Hyundai's Jussi Valimaki, a great performance and valuable experience in the snow. The highest placed privateer on last year's Swedish Rally, Janne finished seventh after electing to take a penalty allowing then-Ford Rallye Sport driver Colin McRae to move up a place into the points. Janne is co-driven by Jukka Aho this season and is hoping to better last year's Swedish Rally result next weekend.
Car # 22
9 Tomasz Kuchar
Driver: Tomasz Kuchar (PL)
Co driver: Maciej Szczepaniak (PL)
Vehicle: Y129 XEV (Ford Focus WRC02)
This is the first 2003 World Rally Championship outing for Tomasz Kuchar, who has moved from last year's Toyota Corolla to a new Ford Focus RS WRC02 for this season. He has undergone a vigorous familiarisation and testing programme with his new car, both in the UK and his native Poland and is confident that the car will be very competitive next weekend. Tomasz has his sights set on competing in up to 10 rounds of the 2003 World Rally Championship.
10 Car # 23
11 Wurth Sport
Driver: Jari Viita (FIN)
Co driver: Teppo Leino (FIN)
Vehicle: V9 FMC (Ford Focus WRC01)
Like his fellow countryman Janne Tuohino, Jari Viita is combining a full Finnish Championship with selected rounds of the 2003 World Rally Championship. The Swedish Rally is the first of three WRC events for this season for Viita, who finished a creditable fourth in last weekend's Arctic Rally in Rovaniemi.
12 Car # 25
13 AW Rally Team
Driver: Antony Warmbold (D)
Co driver: Gemma Price (GB)
Vehicle: Y3 FMC (Ford Focus WRC02)
Antony Warmbold completed his WRC debut in a Ford Focus at Rallye Monte Carlo finishing in a commendable 11th position. He coped extremely well with very difficult conditions, even when running first on the road during Leg 2. He and co-driver Gemma Price will undertake a one-day test to finalise the set-up of the Ford Focus RS WRC prior to the recce as part of their Swedish Rally preparations.
14 Car # 102
15 Andreas Eriksson
Driver: Andreas Eriksson (S)
Co driver: Patrick Henriksson (S)
Vehicle: V4 FMC (Ford Focus WRC00)
This is the first of three WRC events for Eriksson who intends to enter the Rally Finland and Wales Rally of GB as well as compete in the full Swedish Championship. A newcomer to 4WD he competed in the Swedish Championship and one round of the British Championship behind the wheel of a 2WD Puma last season. Eriksson will undertake three days of testing prior to the event to familiarise himself with his new Ford Focus WRC.
16 Car # 116
17 JP Team
Driver: Ioannis (Jon) Papadimitriou (GR)
Co driver: Allan Harryman (GB/GB)
Vehicle: V10 FMC (Ford Focus WRC01)
Jon Papadimitriou makes his second outing in a Ford Focus RS WRC for 2003. He was one of four Ford Focus entries in the Arctic Lapland Rally, however he retired on day 2 after breaking his auxiliary lamps following an excursion into a snow bank. A familiar face on the world rally circuit, Papadimitriou has added WRC events Sweden, Cyprus and Acropolis to his Italian Championship activities this year.
