OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team still on scoring course

* Daniel Carlsson/Denis Giraudet move up to fifth place

* Manfred Stohl/Ilka Minor quite content with seventh place

* Marcus Grönholm about to win in Sweden for the fifth time

Both drivers of the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team moved up one place each during the second leg of the "Uddeholm Swedish Rally". Daniel Carlsson lies in fifth place and at least wants to defend this position against Subaru works driver Chris Atkinson. Despite brake problems and a wrong choice of tyres, the Austrian OMV Team Manfred Stohl and Ilka Minor profited by the fact that Finn Toni Gardemeister (Mitsubishi Lancer WR05) dropped back. Thus they finished day two in seventh place.

Carlsson has reached minimum goal so far

Daniel Carlsson and Denis Giraudet have reached the minimum goal so far at the second leg of the Uddeholm Swedish Rally. Fifth place means that the Swedish-French OMV duo lies within schedule. Sunday will still be a very tough day since Subaru works driver Chris Atkinson is only 8,7 seconds behind the local hero. Carlsson: "Of course, I will try everything to repeat last year's third place. But this is no easy task with the new car. Still, we are getting along quite well already and have achieved some satisfying times. Since we are already over one minute behind fourth place we will focus on the infight with Chris. This means that we will have to give at least 100 percent on Sunday."

Stohl not dissatisfied

Manfred Stohl is not dissatisfied following day two of the second run to the FIA World Rally Championship despite the fact that things could have gone much better. During the morning the 34-year-old OMV driver complained of brake problems. These were of an entirely different nature than the ones in Monte Carlo. Stohl: "The attachment bolt of the brake pads is a little too long. Therefore it grazes the brake disc and you get the feeling as if you were braking all the time." During the service this problem was resolved. But following this Stohl had to chose tyres with too short spikes since the others had already been used up. He nevertheless advanced to seventh overall place and promises to ride full attack on Sunday. Stohl: "Gardemeister is only 1,4 seconds behind and my lead on Latvala is only 10,8 seconds. So this promises to be a hot Sunday for me despite the cold."

Marcus Grönholm takes to it like a duck to water

Marcus Grönholm obviously feels right at home in Sweden. The Finnish Ford works driver not only has won this rally four times already but also sets the tone in 2007. After Sebsatien Loeb (Fra/Citroen C4 WRC) had come as close as eleven seconds on the first day Grönholm made good 27 seconds today and currently lies 38,4 seconds in front of the World Champion. Third- placed Ford works-teammate Mikko Hirvonen is already 1:13,4 minutes behind. The most prominent driver to retire during leg two was Petter Solberg who slipped off the road on special stage 10 and lost over 14 minutes. Following SS 12 he finally gave up.

Still 86 special stage kilometres to the finish

On Sunday further 86,32 special stage kilometres are scheduled for the Uddeholm Swedish Rally 2007. Two identical turns with two special stages each will be completed. The final super stage will take place in Karlstad. The restart will be at 6:30 in Karlstad. The 1,9 kilometres long super stage will commence at 14.00. The presentation ceremony will follow immediately afterwards.
