Kris Meeke struggled in the second half of the first day, losing speed and third gear causing him to tumble down the standings. Esapakka Lappi took a high speed tumble in the last stage, ending the day early as troubles hit Ott Tanak allowing Sebastien Ogier to overtake him in the standings with Thierry Neuville taking over as rally leader.
