TARQUINI AND FARFUS CLOSE THE GAP FROM MULLER

Chevrolet and BMW both claimed 1-2 finishes at Brands Hatch, in two incident-packed races.

Once again Alain Menu proved to be one of the men to beat on the Kent circuit; the Swiss overtook his team-mate Robert Huff in the early stages and added another victory to his impressive tally on this track. Huff finished second from an aggressive Andy Priaulx.

In the second race - just like two weeks ago in Porto - Augusto Farfus started from pole positiojn on the reverse grid and led all the way, followed by his team-mate Jorg Muller. Tarquini won a tough fight for third with Priaulx and Rydell.

The reigning champion Yvan Muller was involved in a collision at the start of the first race and collected only two points. This meant that his leading margin in the Drivers' Championship was reduced to 5 and 6 points ahead of Tarquini and Farfus respectively.

The fight is close in the Manufacturers' Championship too, where BMW is now only 10 points behind SEAT.

The championship is now facing a long summer break and will resume on September 6th at Oschersleben, Germany, for rounds 17 and 18.
