After four race meetings in Europe, the FIA World Touring Car Championship next crosses the Atlantic Ocean for races in Brazil (July 2nd) and Mexico (July 30th). Both WTCC points tables are closely matched as the Championship makes its first "long haul" journey of the year; just 2 points separate the top 6 drivers, while SEAT and BMW are only 3 points apart in the Manufacturers' series. With Brazil making its WTCC debut this year, the 3.707km circuit at Curitiba will be new for everyone, although SEAT Sport's team manager, Antonio Rodriguez, visited the track at the start of the year and was impressed by what he found.
The six SEAT Sport Leon racing cars, together with all the team's support equipment and an extensive package of spare parts, were all packed into shipping containers after the races at Oschersleben and will be delivered to the Curitiba circuit on Saturday (June 24th). The fact that the team's transporters were virtually empty returning to Spain from Germany hasn't stopped the development work, however, with all six drivers attending a two-day test at the Jerez circuit in Spain this week.
