LADA Sport LUKOIL ready for growing competition in 2014
LADA Sport LUKOIL Team Principal Victor Shapovalov: The races of the Championship are held worldwide
One of the latest news in WTCC is arrival of Citroen in 2014 with nine- time World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb. More and more manufacturers tend to join WTCC – that shows the efficiency of this Championship for brand promotion. Six automotive brands will be on the grid in 2014: LADA, Honda, Citroen, Chevrolet, Seat, BMW.
LADA Sport LUKOIL Team Principal Victor Shapovalov: “It’s not surprising that new manufacturers join WTCC. The races of the Championship are held worldwide, and the TV-audience is consistently increasing. So, this Championship is a perfect marketing tool for the automotive brands. The competition always keeps us on our toes, and we are ready to work harder to develop our LADA Granta using all the experience we gain in 2013”.
James Thompson: “It’s great that manufacturers and teams of such a high level come to WTCC! That raises the status of the Championship. No doubt that Citroen is a strong competitor, but this a new challenge for our team. We are ready for increasing competition! As for Sebastien Loeb, he is one of the most experienced drivers in the world motorsport, it’s nice to race with such a prominent driver. We are going to have a fantastic season in 2014!”
Mikhail Kozlovskiy: “The more manufacturers arrive in the Championship, the better! For sure, this will make WTCC even more spectacular. The competition grows stronger and the races attract more interest. At the same time, you begin to improve your own level of performance more intensely. Sebastien Loeb is one of the best drivers in the world. I often watched his performances in WRC. Touring is totally different. It will be interesting to see how the rally experience will be converted to the results on the touring circuits. A very challenging season is ahead!”
