CHEVROLET WITHDREW APPEAL
Chevrolet withdrew the appeal against the decision to exclude Alain Menu from the results of the second race in Macau. The Swiss driver was excluded from third place as post-race scrutineering revealed that there was only half-a-litre of fuel left in his car's fuel tank, as opposed to the mandatory three litres.
"We admit that the car did not comply with the technical regulations," said Team Manager, Mark Busfield, "however, this was as a result of accident damage sustained in the first race."
"When Alain hit the barriers in the first race, the shock dislocated the electrical contact with the potentiometer, which activated the safe-mode of the electronics box which in turn allowed for a richer air-fuel mixture in order to cool the second Lambda. This then caused the higher fuel consumption, with the results we know," Chevrolet Europe's Motorsport Manager, Eric Nève explained.
"Despite this incident, I think we have shown our potential, which has steadily grown over the season. In order to continue to show this form we will embark on a stringent winter test schedule," Nève concluded.

RAVAGLIA: PRIAULX IS ONE OF THE BEST
"Andy Priaulx is one of the best Touring Car drivers I have ever seen," declared former World Touring Car champion Roberto Ravaglia in an interview to British weekly Autosport. The Italian who won the only previous edition of the WTCC, back in 1987, and is now team principal of BMW Team Italy-Spain, is a great admirer of Priaulx.
"He's the best driver in the championship. And I'm not saying it because he's the champion. He's clever and has a special talent in understanding the race. He's the quickest when he needs to be, but only when he needs to. I'm sure that he is going to win more championships."
Just after the end of the second race in Macau, Ravaglia wanted to be among the first ones to congratulate the new champion, in an ideal relay from the old World champion to the new one.
ANOTHER FORMULA 1 TEST FOR PRIAULX
Newly-crowned World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx sat again in a Formula 1 car Tuesday in Barcelona. The Briton had his first F1 test last January as a reward for claiming the 2004 FIA European Touring Car Championship title for BMW, that at the time was Williams' engine partner. After having occasionally tested for Williams again during the year, Priaulx was called to join the test team in Barcelona. "Andy did a solid job for us when we have called him during this year at various times. We like his serious and professional approach, which is particularly useful when we have a lot of changes and we have to get through a long test programme list," Williams technical director Sam Michael said.
