Hong Kong - ROAL Motorsport driver Darryl O’Young extended his scoring streak to four races by scoring four points on the Sonoma Runway in California as the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) heads to Asia for the remainder of the 2013 season.

O’Young retained his sixth place in the Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy standing with 51 points, holding a 10-point advantage over seventh-placed Swiss driver Fredy Barth.

Starting from overall P14 in the second race, Darryl managed a respectable independent P5 and an overall P12 finish, earning himself four points on the independent standings as the top Hong Kong race car driver has now scored points in four straight races, dating back to the Race of Russia in June.

“I entered a big fight for P10 with D’Aste, Basseng and Chilton throughout the race, but everyone kept it clean despite being side by side so often,” said O’Young after the race.

Earlier in the day, O’Young was hit from behind by Tom Boardman in the opening race, damaging the rear alignment of his car and making it impossible to drive. The Hong Kong-based driver then made the call to quit the race, giving team mechanics sufficient time to fix the car for the second race, and it proved to be right one.

Upon the conclusion of the Race of the United States, WTCC will head to Asia for the final three races of the current season, starting with Race of Japan in two weeks’ time. The race will be held on the famous Suzuka Circuit, which has been home to the WTCC series since 2011. The final two races will then be held in November, in Shanghai and Macau respectively.
