The second session was uneventful in comparison to this morning’s, with no red flags or major incidents, with just an escape road jaunt for Ryo Michigami in the Honda near the end of the session.

Michelisz led the majority of the 45-minute practice, with the Hungarian getting to the low 1m58s before the half-way point, leading his teammate Monteiro.

The two Hondas were soon split by Huff in last year’s championship-winning Citroen, with the Briton four-tenths from Michelisz’s pace.

A final run on new tyres saw Huff going faster on his second lap and go into the 1m57s, with Michelisz also improving but finishing second, the two drivers over half a second clear of Monteiro.

Championship leader Nicky Catsburg was fourth fastest and the best-placed of the Volvos, leading teammate Thed Bjork.

Esteban Guerrieri, who again chose to never try out the new joker lap, meaning his first experience won’t be until the race itself, was sixth quickest, the only Chevrolet in the race following the withdrawal of Tom Coronel after his crash this morning.

The top 10 were completed by the privateer Citroen of Mehdi Bennani, the Volvo of Nestor Girolami, the Honda of Ryo Michigami and Tom Chilton’s Citroen.
