Tiago Monteiro is looking forward to the coming weekend, the 2nd and 3rd of May, when he will contest the third round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in Hungary, but this time his Honda Civic will be equipped with new developments that have been tested in recent months. The improvements made to the car give the Portuguese racer and the entire technical team an increased motivation to compete against their main rivals in the championship.

Months of hard work have now been implemented and Tiago is confident that they will prove to be positive changes. "I have no doubt we'll be more competitive and closer to our main rivals. Changes were made mainly to the chassis and the aerodynamics in a set up that worked well in testing. They will definitely bear fruit either in qualifying or in the race. It is another important step for our competitiveness," explained Tiago Monteiro.

Very important weekend

In terms of results Tiago is expecting everything to go well. "We will be able to fight and achieve better results and hopefully this will be reflected in points and positions in the Championship. This Weekend will be very important because we will be able to assess the impact of these changes and the performance of our car in race conditions. We have high expectations and are confident that everything will work out for the best," he said.

Before leaving for Hungary, Tiago was busy on the Nordschleife circuit for the official WTCC test to prepare for the most uncharacteristic race on the calendar. It was an important test on a circuit that is more than 25 kilometers in length: "It was an important test and it was confirmed that our car is not ideal for this type of track so we will have to work hard to achieve a better performance. It is a difficult circuit with a lot of long straights and we will have to adjust in the best possible way. There is a lot of work to do there. "

The Hungarian round of the championship will be broadcasted live on Eurosport with qualifying at 13.30 on Saturday and the races at 12.15 and 13.15 on Sunday.
