Tiago Monteiro claimed the sixth victory of his FIA World Touring Car Championship career today on Russia's Moscow circuit. A well-deserved victory, Tiago secured just rewards for all the JAS Honda Motorsport team's dedication and hard work after the Portuguese driver encountered several problems at the beginning of the Moscow weekend.

This victory is a huge motivation for the next rounds of the championship, starting with Vila Reale in Portugal,

Starting from pole position in the second race, the Honda Civic #18 driver had a great start and led the race from start to finish after taking extra care of his tires in the opening laps. Earlier in the day, Tiago moved up two places and won his battle against the Citroen of Sebastien Loeb in order to take the checkered flag in the first race with points for 8th place in his pocket.

Author of two podiums this season prior to the Russian round of the 2015 FIA WTCC season, Tiago has always known that the Honda Civic had the potential to get him onto the top step of the podium on a track such as the Moscow Raceway. "The victory was not easy to pick up and I had to have full concentration at all times. I made sure that I preserved my tires early in the race because I knew it would be crucial that they were still strong in the final kilometers. Then in the closing laps it was maximum attack," Tiago explained.

"We have had a few disappointments this year and this win is a great reward for me and the entire team who have worked tirelessly to take a step forward at every round. We needed this win and we knew that the conditions were met here in Russia for the victory."

The resounding success of Tiago in Moscow allows him to consolidate his overall fourth place. "This is the second objective that we have achieved in Russia and it is greatly satisfying because it shows us that we are on an upward path. We must continue to work hard and not forget that it is the sum of all the little details that can help make the difference. This victory is a huge motivation for the next rounds of the championship, starting with Vila Reale in Portugal," concluded the Portuguese driver.

The next round of the FIA WTCC will take place from June 20 in Slovakia. Prior to this however, Tiago Monteiro will participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 13 and 14.
