St. Pete: Highcroft Racing qualifying report

HIGHCROFT RANKS 5TH IN CLASS/6th OVERALL IN QUALIFYING ROUND AT ST. PETERSBURG

David Brabham's best lap time of 1:03:807 in today's qualifying session puts Highcroft Racing in 5th place in the LMP2 class in tomorrow's 2:45 minute road race.

Although this was the first time on this course for both drivers, each enjoyed getting familiar with the 14-turn temporary street circuit on St. Pete's waterfront. Brabham explained that being new to the course "might mean playing a little catch up to some teams, but once you get a rhythm, you settle down and everything flows well." Brabham added, "it's the nature of a street race, having to learn the course quickly and even though I was fairly close during the qualifying laps, there were still a few places where we can improve with more time on the track."

Both drivers were comfortable in the car and Johansson, in particular, noted that "the car is running very well - we've got a very good race car and we should have strong results tomorrow." Brabham agreed, pointing out that the crew has "made some adjustments today which gives us good direction for tomorrow."
