Seventy-One Year Old NASCAR Legend to compete at Berlin ARCA

MEMPHIS TN (7-12-06) - Seventy-One year old stock car legend James Hylton has always been a racer that loved a good challenge, whether it be trading paint with Bobby Allison on a short track or driving his legendary Dodge Daytona at over 200 mph. On Saturday, James faces another tough challenge as the ARCA RE/MAX Series moves to historic Berlin Speedway in Marne, Michigan. "Berlin is one of the toughest racetrack I have ever competed on," states Hylton "at most tracks its 80 percent car and 20 percent driver; however, its 90 percent driver and 10 percent car there".

James has competed twice at Berlin, with a 30th place finish in 1999 and a 34th place finish in 2002. Hylton anticipates a different outcome in 2006 "We are coming with a different chassis setup this year than we have used in the past" said James "it's a very hard race track to hook a car up to but I think we have what we need this year".

The season has been termed the "White Flag Tour" and brings one of the most impressive careers in motorsports to a close. Hylton entered the racing scene in a big way with an impressive second place finish in the season-long NASCAR Grand National standings in 1966. James was also voted "Rookie of the Year" for the season and still holds the NEXTEL CUP record for being the highest placing rookie in a season. Hylton's storied career also includes ten top-10 finishes in the NASCAR season long points championship as well as victories at Talladega and Richmond in NEXTEL CUP and Daytona in the Grand American Series.

James Hylton has competed in 656 major races in NASCAR, ARCA and IMSA during his career with three wins, 147 top-five finishes and 309 top-ten finishes.
