Todd Bowsher, driver of the #21 Safe Auto Insurance-GFS Marketplace Ford and the drivers of the ARCA RE/MAX series put a close to their 2005 season Saturday evening. The 2005 awards banquet was held at the Marriott Rivercenter in Covington, KY.
Todd was presented with the 7th place driver's trophy, as well as car owner and Dad, Jack's, 12th place owner's trophy. The Hoosier Hard Charger Award was given to Todd, which is a season long award for improving the most positions from the qualifying spot during each race. Next up on the award list for the Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports team was the Best Appearing Car Award. As Todd began to accumulate his hardware to leave the stage, emcee Ray Dunlap from the Speed Channel, told Todd to hold on just a minute -he had one other thing for Todd. As a surprised Todd walked back, Todd was presented with the Speed 51.com ARCA Most Popular Driver Award for the second straight year. An emotional Bowsher thanked his fans, family and his crew for all of the honors. Todd said, "I hope I can live up to the meaning of this award." In closing, Todd also thanked his associate sponsors, Bremtown Fine Custom Cabinetry, Collateral Evaluation Associates, Inc., Tex Racing, Ingersoll Rand Tools, Turtle Wax and Casite Company.
Additionally, Brandon Knupp was awarded the HG Adcox Sportsman of the Year Award, while Dennis Pulte, 15 year volunteer crew chief of the #59 Mark Gibson car was presented with ARCA Spirit Award. Frank Kimmel was given his trophies and awards for his 7th championship, which places him in the elite company of Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt who also won 7 championships.
The 2006 race season will begin in Daytona during Speed Weeks in February. The 80 lap Daytona ARCA 200 is scheduled for a 4:10 pm EST start on Saturday, February 11.
