EU3000: SF01 Jerez final test day notes

Bas Leinders concludes final day of SF01 test

2004 Minardi test driver, Bas Leinders was the latest Formula One driver to get behind the wheel of the new SF01 on the final day of testing in Jerez, Spain.

Leinders completed the first full race distance in the SF01 which included a simulated pit stop. This marked a successful conclusion to three days of car development and tyre evaluation ahead of the 2005 Formula Superfund Championship.

Leinders is the eighth driver to test run the car in preparation for the forthcoming Formula Superfund series.

Time ran out in the session for the other drivers, 2004 Superfund Euro 3000 Champion Nicky Pastorelli and Austrian driver Mathias Lauda. Their test will be rescheduled at a later date.

Bas Leinders:

"The SF01 is much quicker than any other car I've driven, with the exception of Formula One and even then it's not far off the mark. I was amazed by the power behind the car and also its driveability - the SF01 is very stable and not at all nervous. Also, there's no traction control so it was really fun to drive! For me, the race simulation was particularly enjoyable and we were able to get good feedback especially for the evaluation of the tyres. It's been a very successful day today."
