PEPPERS / LUCAS OIL WINS SECOND RACE IN A ROW TO TAKE THE NUMBER ONE POSITION IN THE OSS CATLITE CLASS in Orange Beach, AL
"After a great day of testing on Saturday, August 16, all we had to do is wait to see how the water turns for race day. Then we will pick our weapons for the "BATTLE OF THE OIL COMPANIES" stated George Stancombe, driver of the #1 PEPPERS/ LUCAS OIL.
As Sunday approached, we had a new race program come out. Chief Referee, Mike Tomlinson announced we would be racing a 2 heat race. So with this , The PEPPERS/LUCAS OIL TEAM had to go out and dominate that other Skater, Amsoil. When the green flag dropped in heat 1b, we headed to the first turn in the lead. After completing the 5 lap heat race, and winning, we went back to the docks to change the set up for heat2b, the final race of the day.
"I had to run the boat very loose, and on the edge the whole time, or Bob and Paul would reel us in. This is a do or die, hero or zero race. We either win or lose the national championship, and we did come here to win this for PEPPERS and LUCAS OIL," said Michael Stancombe, throttleman for the father and son team.
"Heat 2b starts, just where we left off, a race to turn one. It looked as if Popeyes, Or Amsoil might have us, Popeyes come across the racecourse pushing Amsoil into the side of Our skater, and nearly blowing themselves over backwards. After another grueling 5 laps we had won the 2008 Thunder on the Gulf race and returned to the top of the points bracket."
This sets up another must win for next month's Horny Toad OSS National Championships at the Lake of the Ozarks, September 25- 28th.
