EPPING, NH--- Mitchell Stott has the qualifying end of it downpat. Now the Mill Spring, North Carolina based driver is working hard on gaining his first victory in eliminations. That elusive win did not come at the North American Nationals, although the event afforded him his quickest career pass.
He ran his personal best of a 6.513/216.17 during the final qualifying session and that seeded him 15th in the program. Stott was scheduled to meet the second qualifier, Fred Hahn, during the first round. But, when Hahn suffered breakage and couldn't make the call, Billy Harper was inserted in his place. A slight holeshot spelled doom for Stott as he was unable to bridge the difference.
Harper took the win light with a 6.570/209.10 while Stott recorded a respectable 6.584/214.35 in losing.
The next outing for the Radiac Abrasives Racing team on the IHRA/Snap-On Tools Series will be in two weeks at Budds Creek, Maryland.
