W. PALM BEACH, FL - Quain Stott was a work of art at the Moroso Motorsports Park Quick Eight event. No one would have ever guessed that this was his first outing in the 1998 season. The veteran Pro Modified driver from Inman, South Carolina picked up where he left off at in his Cinderella 1997 season and posted a convincing win by stopping Johnny Rocca’s radical 1949 Mercury in the finals.
“I am at a loss for words,” explained Stott. “We just wanted to come in here and do well and hope that it would carry over to Bradenton. This far exceeded any expectations that I had for the weekend. We knew we had a good combination and today just proved it.”
Stott started the event as the proverbial king of the hill by qualifying on the pole with a 6.572/212.41, which also served as the event’s low elapsed time. He recorded no slower than a 6.62 in eliminations prior to the final, but carefully navigated tricky track conditions in the final to stop Rocca on the money run.
