Ocon is first to set a Q2 time, a 1m06.488s, but neither Gasly or Tsunoda can beat that. But there's a lot of changes of position: Leclerc goes top, Verstappen beats him, but Hamilton then does a 1m05.538s to go top.
Green flag
Q2 is now under way. Who's going to make the top 10 - and who's going to fall by the wayside? Let's see.
Breaking news
Eliminated in Q1: Ricciardo, Stroll, Zhou, Latifi, Vettel.
Zhou couldn't make it to Q2 either - and Vettel gets track-limitsed and thus will start tomorrow's sprint from the back of the grid.
Checkered flag
Neither Ricciardo or Stroll can progress, and Vettel puts in a lap but it's only enough for 17th!
Albon lifts himself into 11th, putting Stroll back into the drop zone. Latifi can't get out, as Gasly takes the flag and can only sit P15.
Stroll lifts himself over the boundary to get up to 15th, as Ricciardo is now into the bottom five. Every car has a chance of making it through to Q2 - which is going to leave someone very disappointed.
Norris then pushes Zhou into the zone, with Ricciardo teetering on the brink by just 0.025s.
With just under four minutes left, it's Norris, Vettel, Latifi, Stroll and Albon in the drop zone.
Stopwatch
It's a 1m05.852s for Verstappen that time around, but he's displaced by Sainz and then Leclerc in short order - a 1m05.419s for the latter.
Albon went up to eighth place, but his lap was deleted for track limits. Magnussen's also had a lap chalked off.
Stopwatch
Hamilton now goes fastest with a 1m06.079s, quicker than Verstappen's deleted lap. Very fine margins around this circuit.
But Verstappen's time is promptly discarded for track limits, which moves Perez up to first.
Stopwatch
Russell splits the Haas pair to go fourth, but Alonso then returns to the top briefly before he's displaced by the Red Bulls - Verstappen goes fastest with a 1m06.097s.
A 1m06.397s for Sainz now to go P2, ahead of Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen. Alonso and Perez complete the current top six.
Stopwatch
Stroll and Latifi get laptimes deleted too, as Alonso logs a 1m06.716s to briefly go top before the Haas duo go quicker - but Leclerc now drops a 1m06.200s to go fastest.
After the initial flurry of laps, Sainz does a 1m06.303s, but that's quickly discarded for track limits. Leclerc hence moves to P1.
Gasly and Tsunoda look like they'll be the first drivers to set times, as Norris also begins a lap having done minimal running earlier today.
Green flag
Qualifying now begins. Let's go.
You can see the new chicane on the stretch to Turn 3, the second corner of the circuit. Thankfully, that's a problem for the MotoGP lot to work with and not for us.
The Max Verstappen Orange Army is out in full force ahead of qualifying. Some are even dressed as carrots - they'll be the root of all the noise this weekend.
Even though it's sprint quali, the format is the same - and it'll set the grid for tomorrow's sprint, with pole awarded. The sprint winner will have "pole" for Sunday's race, but that doesn't count as a pole in the record books. Confused? Yes. No. Maybe. Can you repeat the question?
We've had one of three sprint races this year, at Imola. The second will be tomorrow, and the third will take place in Brazil.
It's Friday, Friday, gotta qualify on Friday. Everybody's looking forward to the sprint race (sprint race). Hello again everyone - qualifying will be with you in just under 20 minutes' time.

Just a reminder this weekend is a Sprint weekend, so we have qualifying coming up at 4pm BST.
It has been a difficult session for McLaren. Norris only logged 14 laps before being forced to pull off the road at Turn 5. Ricciardo struggled with his rear wing leaving him down in P17.
Here is the Top 10: Verstappen, Leclerc, Russell, Perez, Hamilton, Magnussen, Sainz, Alonso, Schumacher and Tsunoda.
Ferrari's Leclerc has emerged as Verstappen's nearest rival, 0.255s shy of the Red Bull.
So it is Red Bull on top after FP1. Max Verstappen sets a session best 1m06.302s.
Checkered flag
Chequered flag is out.
Leclerc has managed to shave some time off his benchmark. The Ferrari driver is 0.255s slower than Verstappen.
Gasly is the latest to complain about being blocked. A Ferrari is the culprit.
Ricciardo says the rear wing amendment is "definitely better". It has been a tough session for McLaren with Norris stopping on track early on. Ricciardo improves to P17, 1.4s shy on the medium tyres.
Verstappen feels Stroll has impeded him on his latest lap. Red Bull say they have reported it.
McLaren has fitted a gurney flap to Ricciardo's rear wing before sending him out again.
Verstappen is clearly not happy with the Alfa Romeos that appear to have impeded the Red Bull driver in the penultimate corner of the lap.
Bottas has gone off the track at Turn 9 but continues.
Russell has no moved ahead of Hamilton to move from P13 into P3.
The majority of the field are running on soft tyres now as we approach the final 10 minutes.
