Craig Pollock has denied any interest in would-be F1 team Phoenix, which has yet to get off the ground in its attempts to join this season's championship. The ex-BAR boss has been chatting to Arrows principal Tom Walkinshaw, who's TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) outfit is behind Phoenix's engineering department, but said the discussions were only so he could understand the situation.

"I wouldn't deny I have had a chat with Tom just to understand things," said Pollock. "But I am not at all interested, there is nothing there. I don't know how, in reality, you can go to a garage and buy a couple of cars and the next day say you own the garage. I don't understand, and I haven't from day one. If Tom gets it into F1 more power to him but I'm nothing to do with it. I have no interest."

UK finance company Phoenix bought assets of the defunct Prost team and had intended to join the grid in Malaysia. Equipment was flown in for the race at Sepang but the FIA denied the team entry to the championship as Phoenix had only bought Prost equipment, not the right to race. Pollock recently said that he would consider selling his shares in BAR if the right offer was made and it was suggested he was looking to finance a stake in Phoenix.
