Simon Abadie tops World Series Light test in Barcelona
Barcelona, March 5 2004 - Newcomer Simon Abadie (Epsilon Sport) has topped the list of times today at the test held at Circuit of Catalunya in Barcelona. Epsilon Sport has already confirmed Abadie, his former F3 driver in the past, as one of his 2004 entered drivers and Leconte is highly convinced the Team may renew the Title of the 2 liter category that he achieved with Franck Montagny in 2001. Abadie was impressed by the engine of the car and the Circuit: "It is the first time I drive in Barcelona and it has been such a great experience. I loved the engine of the car. We will keep on working on the fiability but this is a fantastic car."
Saulnier Racing has entered the World Series Light and they have impressed putting its driver Mathieu Lahaye in the second best position. "I am so happy. This is a real competition single-seater. I think we have found the proper balance in the car, although we are new!"
Matteo Pellegrino was the top third driver of the day, half a second behind Abadie. He will face his second season within the Vergani Formula Team. "My goal is to improve my best result from last year, 6th overall. In my first day with the Team everything has been Okay."
All the drivers improved their times during the afternoon session.
On March 8, the teams will held another single-day of testing at El Jarama, before they start competition on March 28th.
