THIRD FASTEST TIME FOR BRATT DURING JEREZ BUILD-UP
Will Bratt enjoyed a highly competitive test outing at Jerez today, Friday, 17th October, during the build-up to this weekend's penultimate event of the 2008 FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship.
The Banbury based 20-year-old, a British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) Rising Star, lapped the famous Spanish venue with a best time of 1m 39.523 seconds (160.171 km/h) which placed him third fastest overall.
Instantly leading the way during the first of the day's three sessions with a lap of 1m 39.635 seconds (159.992 km/h), only some problems with traffic prevented Will from topping the two other test runs.
Sixth fastest in session two with a time of 1m 40.197 seconds (159.095 km/h), less than four 10ths of a second shy of the top spot, Will posted his best lap of the day -- 1m 39.523 seconds -- during the final period to end the session, and the whole test, third quickest.
Very happy indeed with his start to the weekend, the EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport driver is looking forward to Saturday's qualifying session where he firmly believes he has the car with which to challenge for a place on the front row and fight for a return to the podium.
"We're very happy with today, we had three good sessions and I'm confident we've got the pace in the car to be strong in qualifying tomorrow", said Will, "We're still working on things ahead of the weekend but we're pleased with today's runs.
"Our aim tomorrow will be to try and get a good lap in early, see how the session pans out and then hopefully be able to challenge for pole position or, at least, a place on the front row. Things certainly look good at this stage but we're not getting carried away. Our pace in testing has been very good from the off but it's tomorrow and Sunday that really count."
Qualifying for round 14 of the 2008 FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship will begin at around 11.45 (local time) tomorrow, Saturday, 18th October, with the first of the weekend's races getting underway at 15.30. Round 15 is timetabled to take place on Sunday, 19th October, at 12.30.
