Montreal, Canada, August 15, 2003 -- Nineteen-year old Canadian race car driver Bruno Spengler, who competes this season in the Euro Formula 3 championship today enjoyed a good day of work and qualified 5th for the second of two races held this weekend at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany.

The Euro Formula 3 series always stages double headers each racing weekend. Qualifying for the first race will be held tomorrow morning and be followed by the Race One hours later. Race Two will be staged Sunday early afternoon.

"I set the third fastest time in the practice session held this morning," said Spengler, a works Mercedes-Benz driver. "Everything was going extremely well during the qualifying session. I was second fastest with just five minutes to go. Then, three drivers beat my time. I was also on the track at that moment but I was held up in traffic and I experienced problems with my fuel pump which caused the engine to cut."

With a 5th place on the grid, Spengler equals his best qualifying performance of the season. "There are still a few things to be addressed. My driving can improve a little bit and the set-up of the car can be a little better. But one thing's for sure, I am up there with the leaders. I learned a lot of things last weekend during the F3 Master in Zandvoort and I am driving much more aggressively now. I want to finish on the podium," he explained.

Bruno Spengler emerged fastest of the three Team ASM drivers -- the French team that uses two-litre, four cylinder Mercedes-Benz engines.
