REPSOL WILL BACK BENSON & HEDGES JORDAN MUGEN-HONDA FORMULA ONE TEAM
Several Spanish newspapers publish today that Spanish oil giant REPSOL will back Formula One team, Benson & Hedges Jordan Mugen-Honda this season.
REPSOL has anounced a press conference for tomorrow at Barcelona's track where most of the teams, including Jordan, are doing its pre-season tests.
According to what has been published today, REPSOL will back Jordan to support the career of Spanish driver Pedro de la Rosa who was confirmed as the team's test and reserve driver for 1998 at the spectacular launch of the Jordan GP team held at the Royal Albert Hall last month.
REPSOL has a long history of backing Spanish motorsports sportsmen, having sponsored in the past two times Rally WC Carlos Sainz and 500 cc star and race winner Alex Criville. In supporting the 1997 Formula Nippon and Japanese GT Champion, Pedro de la Rosa, REPSOL plans to promote him as a regular driver for 1999 and beyond.
