WARRENDALE, Pa. (6/1/2007) -- It'll be the good, the bad and the Baja when more than 140 university teams from around the globe converge June 9-10 on Palmyra, NY, to compete in SAE International's final Baja event of the 2007 season.
Hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology, the world's finest collegiate engineers will participate in this educational competition that spotlights all-terrain vehicles powered by a 10-horsepower Intek Model 20 engines donated by Briggs & Stratton Corporation.
After two days of inspections and presentations, the vehicles take to the track June 9 (8 a.m.-6 p.m.) for acceleration, traction and maneuverability events; June 10 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) is the "enduro," which tests each vehicle's durability in a four-hour race over rugged terrain. The team completing the most laps in four hours wins.
