Hurricane Racing signs on as the Newest Constructors Championship Contingency sponsor.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (August 19, 2002) - SCCA Pro Racing, Ltd. and the World Karting Association (WKA) announced today that Hurricane Racing has joined the growing ranks of contingency sponsors for the Constructors Championship.

For each race, Hurricane Racing is offering $300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place in any class if the driver uses an MBA chassis. The same dollar amounts are available for first through third position in ICC if the driver uses a CRS ICC engine.

Along with their contingency awards, Hurricane Racing will provide the overall champion in any class, if they used an MBA chassis or CRS engine, the use of a new MBA chassis and driver suit for the following year free of charge.

This latest contingency award follows on the heels of the debut event for the Constructors Championship, held late last month at Road America's Briggs & Stratton Motorplex, that saw 43 karts participate in six different classes. The class winners included Craig Baltzer, of Kiel, Wis., in Intercontinental C (ICC), Steve Welk, of Franklin, Wis., in Intercontinental A (ICA), Brian Robben, of Des Moines, Ia., in ICC Senior, Robbie Pecorari, of Aston, Pa., in Formula Yamaha, Jr., Paulie Harraka, of Fair Lawn, N.J., in Cadet, and Joe King, of Silvis, Ill., in the first-ever World Formula class event.

"The response we have received from competitors and sponsors following our first event has been outstanding," said Mitch Wright, SCCA Pro Racing Vice President and General Manager. "You are going to see the number of competitors increasing with each Constructors Championship event. We expect to far exceed the turnout of our inaugural event when we race at Norway, Ill. on September 15."

Participants in the Constructors Championship contingency awards include engine and chassis programs from Arsenal, PCR Franklin, Grand Products, Intense Karting, Tony Kart, Russell Karting Specialties, Hurricane Racing and Margay Products, Inc., tire contingency awards from Bridgestone, Dunlop and MG, and the previously announced scholarship program from Jim Russell Racing School and Primus Racing. In addition, Burris Racing is the Official Lubricant of the Constructors Championship and Sunoco is the official fuel.
