WKA Rules on Impact Racing Products

07.19.2010 - On an April 22, 2010 Web site post, WKA announced that SFI had decertified selected Impact Racing Products fire resistant suits and restraint systems. According to SFI representatives, certain flame resistant driving suits and restraint systems manufactured up to January 1, 2009 do not comply with the SFI ratings required by WKA in its Champ Kart classes.

At their June 28 meeting the WKA Board of Trustees approved a proposal to disallow use of all Impact Racing Products fire resistant suits and restraint systems manufactured prior to January 1, 2009. To give our Champ Kart competitors time to plan for the purchase of new restraint systems and driving suits, this change will become effective at the beginning of the 2011 competition year, December 20, 2010.

This change does not affect Impact Racing Products helmets or driving suits used in any other WKA classes.
