Cruz Pedregon Midget Racing Win at Kokomo
Toyota-powered Midgets Victorious on Dirt at Kokomo
Josh Wise and Dave Darland's performances at Kokomo Speedway on Thursday night, May 24th are proof-positive that the Toyota midget engine is now a force to be reckoned with on dirt as well as pavement tracks.
Josh, driving the #75 Toyota-powered, Advance Auto Parts-sponsored midget for NHRA Funny Car driver Cruz Pedregon, and Dave, in the seat of Steve Lewis' #9 SAE/Oakley Toyota-powered car, finished 1st and 2nd respectively at the tough, semi-banked dirt track just north of Indianapolis.
The victory was the first on dirt for the new, powerful and reliable Toyota midget racing engine that debuted just over a year ago, garnering four USAC National Midget Series pavement track wins in 2006 at the hands of Team 9's Dave Steele.
The Pedregon and Lewis teams both utilized the non-USAC sanctioned Kokomo event as a dirt track tune-up opportunity for the next USAC National Midget Series dirt track event that will be held at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, WI on June 1st.
