Schwalb named to technology position

Schwalb To Lead Technology For NASCAR, NASCAR Media Group

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 16, 2010) -- NASCAR has announced that Andrew ("Andy") Schwalb has been named Vice President and Chief Information & Technology Officer for NASCAR and NASCAR Media Group.

Schwalb will oversee NASCAR's entire technology function, carrying out strategic technological initiatives encompassing the business, media and competition aspects of the sport. He will report to NASCAR Chief Administrative Officer Ed Bennett. Schwalb had most recently been the Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, where he had been employed for 13 years.

At Disney, Schwalb spearheaded a number of technological projects aimed at enhanced guest experiences and overall growth at all company theme parks, both domestically and internationally. Under his leadership, the company was able to realize significant benefits through the implementation of leading edge technologies, which enhanced guest experiences, increased cast member productivity and resulted in the formation of several new lines of business.

Prior to joining Disney, Andy spent three years at Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology labs, where he developed new concepts for software development methodology and project management. He was also the lead technical architect on redesigning the Lockheed Martin automated manufacturing processes and systems. Prior to that, Andy spent 12 years at Kennedy Space Center, where he led three labs that created New Technology for the Space Shuttle Program and developed software and systems that won NASA's Tech Briefs Award.

He currently resides in Mount Dora, Fla. with his wife Diane and their three children Pierce, Neil and Evan. Schwalb earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Technology degree from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science, Management of Technology degree from the University of Miami.
