Accidents Affect Lynch's New Hampshire Debut
Loudon, NH-- Scott Lynch's New Hampshire debut did not go as hoped, with wrecks sending him to 34th and 31st place finishes in the Busch East and Craftsman Truck races (respectively) this past weekend in Loudon.
"We ended up with only about 15 minutes of practice for the East race and then qualified 20th," says Lynch. "We weren't worried, the car was great. I really thought we'd go through the field like we did in Iowa, but the wreck certainly changed that. It was just one of those racing deals."
Before the East race, however, the team posted top-15 practice times in the truck, and were optimistic about their chances for a good finish.
"This was the best truck we've had yet," continued Lynch. "And, as a part-time team, when they cancelled qualifying because of the rain, we were relieved to be in the race. Obviously, you have to be in the race in order to have a chance."
Things were looking up as the laps ticked on and Lynch settled into the truck, but a spin on lap 47 brought him down pit road with rear end damage and he ultimately took the checkers in the 35th position.
Windward Racing Enterprises will head to "Sin City" this weekend for the running of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Smith's Las Vegas 350 on Saturday, September 22nd. Coverage of the 146-lap, 219-mile race will start at 8:30pm ET and will be carried on SPEED TV, MRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
