Brainerd: David Wells preview

BRAINERD, Minn - Defending Division 5 Federal Mogul Dragster Champion David Wells will be looking to make a clean sweep of the races at The Colonel's Brainerd International Raceway this year during this weekend's Colonel's Truck Accessories Nationals. Wells won the Division 5 Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series event there earlier in the year in his Blue Bunny Ice Cream/ "Plain Vanilla" dragster.

The LeMars, Iowa driver has had several successes at Brainerd over the last few years, including two wins on the Federal Mogul level, and qualifying No. 1 at the national event there as well. Wells hopes to turn his knowledge of the Brainerd surface into a national event win this weekend.

Wells said, "It looks like it's going to be the same cool weather that we had earlier in the year since it has already started cooling down up there. We can probably step on it a little bit harder than we did at the points race [earlier in the year] because the track is typically better for a national event."

"The track in Brainerd is actually one of the better tracks in the country since they resurfaced it a few years back. We hope to use this to our advantage, because our car with the Tom Conway set up seems to do better at the good tracks."

Qualifying begins on Friday at noon, with one more session Friday night, and another Saturday morning. First round of eliminations begins at 3 p.m. Saturday.
