Troy Goes Out In Round One
The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier driven by Troy Coughlin started race day from the No. 11 qualifying position. This was his second straight event he has qualifying for this season.
In the first round Troy Coughlin went head-to-head against fellow Ohio Pro Stock driver Dave Connolly. The starting line advantage went to Connolly by .023 seconds (.027 to .050). The Jeg's machine was ahead at the 60-foot clock, but it wasn't enough to take the win light at the stripe. Coughlin posted a slower run of 6.881 at 201.58 mph.
"We qualified for the second straight race and that was the good news this weekend," said Coughlin. "We just feel a little short on race day. Our team is going to do some testing in St. Louis with Jerry Bickel before heading to Chicago. Our program is making moves in the right direction and little extra help never hurt, especially when you are racing in class that is won and lost by inches. The guys are all working very hard to get us back into the winner's circle where we belong."
