Jeg Coughlin, Jr. started race day from the No. 6 qualifying position and faced off against Jim Yates in the opening round. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier left the starting line first (.030 to .044) and never looked back. The win light went to Coughlin and he posted a run of 6.764 at 204.29 mph.
