Jeg Has A Productive Race Day
Jeg Coughlin, Jr. started race day from the No. 6 qualifying position and faced off against Jim Yates in the opening round. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier left the starting line first (.030 to .044) and never looked back. The win light went to Coughlin and he posted a run of 6.764 at 204.29 mph.
"It felt good to turn the win light on in the opening round," explained Coughlin. "We just need to keep marching. We made a fair amount of changes going into race day and the car responded well. I think we have a solid baseline going into the second round."
In the second round Coughlin went head-to-head with Jason Line. Lane choice went to Line and Coughlin pulled the yellow and black Jeg's Mail Order entry into the right lane.
Once again, Coughlin left the starting line first (.039 to .055). He pair laid his starting line advantage to win on a holeshot. Coughlin posted a run of 6.774 at 203.12 mph on the board.

In the third round Coughlin took on Steve Johns, who defeated brother Troy in the opening round. The starting line advantage went to Johns in this match up by .003 seconds. The two Chevy Cavaliers looked like they were welded together at the door handles until after the 1000-foot mark. The win light came on for Johns and Coughlin ran a 6.760 at 203.12 mph.
"We had a good day and now we need to carry this momentum through the Western Swing," said Coughlin.
